The Abyss.....

"Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure." -George Edward Woodberry

She clung on to the cliff for dear life. Every pore in her body urged her to let go.The pain was fading into an expanse of black nothingness. It seemed too easy, to fall back into the cold sea, submerged in its monstrous waves, never to come back again.

A tiny little voice in her head whispered,"This too shall pass".She heard the frantic beating of her heart and the crashing of the waves against the rocks. This couldn't be the end.
She thought about the clear blue skies and sunlit mornings. She recalled, the joyous laughter of her friends and the warm smiles of encouragement.

Her grip grew tighter, she knew she wouldn't let go.
Cliched words of wisdom echoed in her ears"When the going gets,tough...the tough get going"
Merely words once upon a time...now they meant so much more.

With her last bit of effort, she hoisted herself up and scrambled onto the sharp gravelly ground.
She could feel blood seep through her clothes and sharp stabs of pain but her face glowed like an ethereal angel...... for she had braved THE ABYSS.

A little something-The Abyss can mean so many different things to different people. For some it may symbolize illness, for some failure, for some loss and to others heartbreak It may seem quite strange to have such a dark piece as my first blog post. But to me it symbolizes triumph.Over one's own personal demons be it fear, insecurity or malice!
